Alliance for Excellence in Coffee

Coffee Alliance for Excellence (CAFE) supports coffee producers, formerly coca growers to improve their productivity and encourage them to produce specialty coffees, which they can earn higher prices. Through this alliance, USAID, private sector companies like Jacobs Douwe Egberts (JDE) and the nonprofit organization TechnoServe are helping to lift thousands of rural families out of poverty and integrate them into a licit economy.

Since 2017, CAFE transfers, generates and promotes knowledge through accompaniment and personalized advice as a primary value to improve the work of coffee growers. Program participants are committed to change, pursue innovation and improving their knowledge are already realizing its first fruits.

Here the principles that guide our work:

• Boost productivity (yield), more coffee beans per hectare and improving the quality of their beans through special training on production techniques.
• Educate coffee producers about sustainable production practices, which will make their farms more resistant and productive.
• Connect coffee farmers to specialty markets so they can sell their products at a fair price.
• Improving access to financial services.
